Recently, Shanghai Alway Technology Development Co., Ltd. participated in the construction of Shanghai Passenger ferry Co., LTD. "New ecology" passenger ferry, which is the world's first ship powered by pure supercapacitor, completed its trial voyage.

The ship has a total length of 65 meters, a width of 14.5 meters, and a depth of 4.3 meters. In view of the characteristics of high-frequency round-trip in operation and short berthing time, alway high energy density supercapacitor is used to power the propulsion device and auxiliary equipment of the whole ship, and it is equipped with a charging scheme of 2.5MW DC shore power system. The capacitor system stores 625kWh and the voltage range is 604-853V. Maximum charge and discharge current up to 5200A.

Among ships of its kind, New Ecology is currently the world's largest passenger ferry equipped with full rotation thrusters and supercapacitor power, with an output power of 2,000 kw and a speed of 12 knots. Make full use of the characteristics of fast charging and discharging and high cycle times of supercapacitor to achieve zero emissions during normal navigation, complete charging within a short time of loading and unloading passengers at parking, and save about 500 tons of fuel every year.

It is reported that "New Ecology" is scheduled to be put into operation by the end of the year. After delivery, the ship will sail between Changxing Island and Hengsha Island in Chongming District, Shanghai, escorting the construction of world-class ecological island in Chongming District, the development of green transportation system in Chongming District, and leading and promoting the application of new energy ships in China.
